Russia has developed and registered the first vaccine against the Coronavirus, according to a Bloomberg report.
Mass production of the vaccine will start soon, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement. Earlier reports in the media had suggested that a few of the Russian elite had received an experimental COVID-19 immunization, several weeks ago. The President’s daughter was also recently vaccinated, according to the report.
Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Philippines, volunteered and said he is ready to take the vaccine.
Russian ruble strengthened against the dollar and USD/RUB was below 73.
World over, many companies and institutions including Moderna, Novavax, the University of Oxford, are in the race to develop a vaccine against the pandemic.
