The pound – euro (GBP/EUR) exchange rate is rising on Thursday after losses yesterday.
The pound is higher after data showed UK GDP rose 0.2% MoM in March and 0.7% QoQ in the January to March period.
Growth is expected to slow from here owing to the US trade tariffs and the increased employer tax burden from April.
The EUR fell after Q1 GDP was downwardly revised to 0.3% QoQ.
Spain experienced the strongest growth of 0.6%, Germany and Italy at 0.2%, and France just 0.1%.
Eurozone industrial production rose strongly in March as companies front-loaded orders ahead of trade tariffs.
