The Pound Euro (GBP/EUR) exchange rate is trading +0.1% higher after dropping 0.3% in the previous session. The pair is looking to break through €1.09.

The Pound is attempting to claw back lost ground even as the Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce a curfew of 10pm on bars, restaurants, pubs and hospitality venues in an attempt to control the spread of coronavirus. Boris Johnson is expected to speak later today.

Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey is also scheduled to speak today.

The Euro is slipping as covid cases, particularly in France and Spain rise sharply and local lock downs increase.

Consumer confidence data will be in focus.
