GBP/EUR: Can UK GDP Data Lift The Pound vs. Euro?

The pound-euro (GBP/EUR) exchange rate settled at the end of the week at €1.1947, unchanged on the day and throughout the week.

The pound held steady despite UK GDP rising 0.2% MoM in August, after stalling at 0% in June and July.

The growth gives Chancellor Rachel Reeves a little more wiggle room in the Budget at the end of the month.

The euro is unchanged after German inflation cooled in line with expectations to 1.6% YoY down from 1.9%.

The data comes ahead of the ECB meeting next week, where the ECB is expected to cut rates.
