The pair rose 0.18% in the previous session, settling on Tuesday at \u20ac1.1503. The pair traded between \u20ac1.1467 and \u20ac1.1515. At 15:30 UTC on Wednesday, GBP\/EUR trades 0.15% at \u20ac1.1521.<\/p>\n<p>The pound is rising on Wednesday after mixed UK inflation data, as the first impact from the Iran conflict begins to show through.<\/p>\n<p>UK inflation rose 3.3% year-on-year in March, up from 3% in February and in line with expectations.<\/p>\n<p>The increase was driven by an 8.7% rise in motor fuel prices, marking the largest monthly gain since 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Services sector inflation also accelerated to 4.5%, up from 4.3%, partly due to volatile airfares.<\/p>\n<p>However, UK core inflation, which excludes more volatile items such as food and fuel, unexpectedly fell to 3.1% year-on-year, down from 3.2%.<\/p>\n<p>This data supports the view that the Bank of England will leave interest rates unchanged at 3.75% when it meets next week, opting to wait for more data and greater clarity on the conflict before making a move.<\/p>\n<p>Markets are currently pricing in one full 25 basis point rate hike before the end of the year, with a 50% chance of a second increase.<\/p>\n<p>However, given the weak labour market and the stagflationary impact of higher energy prices, the Bank of England may be more inclined to keep rates unchanged for an extended period rather than hike.<\/p>\n<p>The euro is falling against both the pound and the US dollar as oil prices continue to rise.<\/p>\n<p>Oil has climbed above $100 per barrel despite Donald Trump announcing an indefinite ceasefire with Iran.
