The pair rose 0.06% in the previous week, settling on Tuesday at \u20ac1.1522. It traded between \u20ac1.1500 and \u20ac1.1536. At 19:00 UTC, GBP\/EUR trades -0.12% at \u20ac1.1508.<\/p>\n<p>The pound is falling on Wednesday after cooler-than-expected inflation data fueled Bank of England rate cut expectations.<\/p>\n<p>UK inflation, as measured by the consumer price index, unexpectedly held steady at 3.8% year on year in September. The figure from the Office for National Statistics was below the 4% expected by the Bank of England and economists. Lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages kept inflation unchanged for a third straight month.<\/p>\n<p>The data will help calm concerns among policymakers at the Bank of England regarding sticky inflation, especially given the weaker recent data for the economy and the labour market.<\/p>\n<p>Following the figures, market participants lifted expectations for a December rate cut to over 70% up from 40% prior to the data.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank of England has cut interest rates five times since August last year, but has sounded more cautious recently, given the rising price pressures even as growth turned sluggish.<\/p>\n<p>However, the pace of further rate cuts will also depend largely on what Chancellor Rachel Reeves brings in the budget on November 26.<\/p>\n<p>Steep tax increases and spending cuts could potentially open the door for additional rate reductions.<\/p>\n<p>The euro is rising, despite a quiet eurozone economic calendar.
