The pair fell -0.20% in the previous session, settling on Monday at 145.92. At 21:30 UTC, USD\/JPY is 0.73% lower at 144.86 and in a range of 144.51 to 145.94.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese yen is rising as the Israel\u2013Iran ceasefire pulls oil prices sharply lower. The two sides agreed to a ceasefire, which resulted in oil prices slumping by over 13% over the past 24 hours. The risk premium on oil evaporated on news of a pause after 12 days of conflict.<\/p>\n<p>The yen had fallen as oil prices rose because the country imports all of its oil needs. Therefore, concerns over the rising oil price overshadowed the yen\u2019s safe-haven status. As oil prices tumbled, the yen recovered even though tensions have eased.<\/p>\n<p>After a shaky start, the ceasefire appears to be holding up. The market will continue to watch developments closely.<\/p>\n<p>The US dollar is falling across the board. The US dollar index, which measures the USD versus a basket of peers, is falling -0.49% to 97.94, adding to yesterday&#8217;s gains.<\/p>\n<p>The US dollar is falling as safe-haven flows unwind following the Israel-Iran ceasefire, even if the ceasefire is not being adhered to.<\/p>\n<p>The improved mood overshadowed Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell&#8217;s testimony before the House Financial Services committee, where he pushed back on expectations of a July rate cut.
