The pair fell by 1% in the previous week, settling on Friday at \u20ac1.1745. It traded between \u20ac1.1698 and \u20ac1.1887. At 10:30, GBP\/EUR trades -0.11% at \u20ac1.1728.<\/p>\n<p>The pound is trading lower ahead of a busy week with UK inflation data tomorrow and the Bank of England&#8217;s interest rate decision on Thursday. The central bank is widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged at 4.25%, amid sticky inflation, which was 3.5% YoY in April, despite signs of the slowing UK labor market. Data this month showed the unemployment rate rose to 4.6%.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the UK economic calendar is quiet, although there are signs of some weakness seeping into the UK housing market.<\/p>\n<p>Asking prices for homes put up for sale in Britain have fallen by the most in 14 years, adding to signs of softer pricing following the end of a tax break on house sales.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rightmove, prices fell 0.3% compared to a month earlier, as the market was impacted by the recent stamp duty increase in England.<\/p>\n<p>Other measures have also shown signs of slowdown, including the Bank of England&#8217;s mortgage approvals data in April, which dropped to its lowest level in more than a year.<\/p>\n<p>The EUR is extending gains on Monday despite a quiet eurozone economic calendar. Attention is on comments from Bundesbank president and ECB council member Joachim Nagel, who reiterated that the central bank should not rush to cut rates further.
