The pair ended 0.17% in the previous session, settling on Monday at 86.35. At the time of writing, USD\/INR trades 0.4% at 86.54 and is in a range of 86.38 to 86.56.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian rupee weakened, along with most of the regional currencies, on Tuesday after comments from President Donald Trump about trade tariffs boosted the greenback and unnerved the market.<\/p>\n<p>The Rupee booked its largest one-day fall since January 16, and the Chinese yuan was down 0.4% at 7:28.<\/p>\n<p>While Trump adopted a less hostile approach to trade tariffs last week, including with China, concerns returned after U.S. Treasury securities Scott Bessent reportedly pushed for new universal tariffs on US imports.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to trade tariffs, persistent outflows have also been a problem for the Rupee, with foreign investors withdrawing over $8.5 billion from local stocks and bonds so far this year.<\/p>\n<p>The US Dollar is rising across the board. The US Dollar Index, which measures the greenback against a basket of major currencies, trades at 0.5%, priced at 107.91 on Thursday after three days of losses.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. dollar is rising on renewed trade tariff jitters which could add inflationary pressure to the US economy.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, attention is turning to tomorrow&#8217;s Federal Reserve interest rate decision. The central bank is expected to leave interest rates unchanged at 4.25 to 4 point 5%. The Fed cut rates by 100 basis points across the latter part of 2024 and is expected to slow its pace of rate cuts considerably in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Recent data has highlighted the ongoing strength and resilience of the US economy, supporting the view that the Fed should pause rate cuts. Meanwhile, underlying inflation has eased, supporting a bias toward further cuts across the year.
