The pair booked gains of 0.18% across the week.<\/p>\n<p>The pound gained after the <a href=\"https:\/\/currencylive.com\/news\/109153-gbp-eur-pound-steady-as-labour-wins-the-election\/\">Labour Party won the UK General Election<\/a>, as expected. The pound is gaining on the prospect of stability, especially in a global context.<\/p>\n<p>The BoE policymakers will now emerge from the blackout period and could start preparing the market for an August rate cut.<\/p>\n<p>The euro slipped after eurozone retail sales rose by less than expected in May, up 0.1%, after falling -0.2% in April.
