This was below forecasts of 2.7%.<\/p>\n<p>The data fuels bets that the ECB could be moving closer towards cutting interest rates from the record 4% level.<\/p>\n<p>The pound continues to power higher after hawkish commentary from BoE policymakers, including BoE Governor Andrew Bailey.
