{"id":104330,"date":"2020-09-08T21:25:55","date_gmt":"2020-09-08T20:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/currencylive.com\/news\/?p=104330"},"modified":"2020-09-08T21:26:59","modified_gmt":"2020-09-08T20:26:59","slug":"104213-us-sino-tensions-could-drive-nasdaq-dow-jones-lower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/currencylive.com\/news\/104213-us-sino-tensions-could-drive-nasdaq-dow-jones-lower\/","title":{"rendered":"US \u2013 Sino Tensions Could Drive Nasdaq, Dow Jones Lower"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the light economic calendar, US \u2013 Sino tensions could drag on risk sentiment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nasdaq 100 looks set to advance after easing back to a key support<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Dow Jones is guided northwards by an Ascending Schiff Pitchfork<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Safe haven USD\/JPY edged mildly lower in the Asian session after\u00a0 the BoJ confirmed they will continue to \u201c take additional easing measures if necessary\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Australian ASX 200 Index led equity markets higher surging by 1.22% in early trade before closing just off 6000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gold and silver rose as US 10-year Treasury yields slipped around 1 basis point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Looking ahead, the Eurozone GDP for the April \u2013 June period will be in focus ahead of\u00a0 the European Central Bank monetary policy meeting on Thursday<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>US-China Tensions Could Drag US equities lower<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In light of a sparse economic calendar, comments from President Trump that \u201cwe\u2019re going to end our reliance on China\u201d could drag on US equity indices ahead of the Federal Reserve\u2019s monetary policy meeting next week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the US Presidential elections nearing, Trump&#8217;s attacks on China could become more frequent and are almost expected, meaning it could be argued that the market is not so sensitive to this anti-China rhetoric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, given that Trump is lagging the democratic candidate Joe Biden 8% in the national polls, it seems\u00a0 logical to discount the recent rise in US-China tensions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However,Trump is closing the gap on Bidden meaning his \u201cdecoupling\u201d from China could turn into a reality and hit demand for riskier assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this in mind, US \u2013 Sino trade headlines could drive US equity indices in the short term.
